Quietly one of the most interesting creative minds coming out of the Telugu indie circuit. Prashanth writes and directs stories that are warm, grounded, and gently satirical — films that feel familiar yet leave you thinking. He is also a collaborator on some of the most anticipated upcoming Telugu projects.
Prashanth Podagatlapalli is a Telugu writer, director, and occasional actor whose sensibility is hard to pin down in the best way — he makes films that are light-hearted and ironic, that observe life as it actually is: a little absurd, quietly funny, and somehow always meaningful. He is a Rama Naidu Film School graduate (Masters in Film Technology, 2006–2010, 2012–2015) whose craft was shaped long before most of his contemporaries had decided what kind of films they wanted to make.
He made his on-screen debut as an actor in Vellipomakey (2017), and went on to appear in Rohit Penumatsa and Camp Sasi's Ranganaayaki — a film that cemented his place within the Avanti Cinema creative family. His instinct for storytelling, however, always pointed toward the director's chair.
His debut directorial, Viral Video, is currently in post-production and is one of the projects we are most excited about at MC Joint. It carries the same signature quality you sense in Prashanth the person — something ironic and observational, the kind of film that reflects everyday life back at you with a knowing smile. Release is anticipated soon.
